The Clarke

Location Los Angeles, CA
Year
Status Completed
Type Renovation

The Clarke is a three-story painted brick condominium building anchored by a pedimented classical entry and a quiet, central fountain courtyard. The renovation respected the building's restrained mid-century classical character while bringing every interior surface up to a contemporary luxury standard.

The courtyard was reworked as the building's defining first impression — a stone fountain centered between symmetrical walks, with the entry door painted in a confident accent red beneath the pedimented surround. Interior units were rebuilt with wide-plank floors, custom kitchens, and refined bath finishes; common areas including a building-wide fitness suite were added as part of the program.

The result is a residential property that holds the dignity of its original architecture while functioning at the standard residents expect from new construction. The Clarke is a clear example of NERA's interest in preservation-minded renovation: respect the bones, rebuild the experience.
